the gentleman

Not 5 minutes ago, I served an older gentleman at the store where I work. (Yes, I am writing this from work.) And I am sure he must have been in his late hundreds. At least. Deaf and almost blind he stumbled in to the store, wanting to compete in the Norwegian lottery “Lotto”. I told him that he needs to have a card so as to confirm his identity while playing, and trying to explain him the new rules, I noticed that his age rendered him quite, quite deaf. When The Gentleman said he wanted a ticket for 5 weeks, I said “That’ll be 200 kroner”. The Gentleman then suggested he’d pay 10 kroner, just like he always used to. I reckon this was back in the 1880′s. The Gent proceeded by insisting I take his change. When I refused, The Gent didn’t take this lightly and looked pissed. I Then pretended to be busy placing out new magazines that arrived today, until he left.
Cheers to you, gramps, for making it outside. But please, if you do decide to take another stroll, please don’t head my way.
