brilliant music

Everyday I am amazed at how brilliant music really is. Good music, that is. I absolutely salute all you great artists. In the future I will definitely start up a list of bands I really respect. One that I will add new bands to as I discover new ones (or old, but new to me) I like. For now all you should now is that I’m seeing one of those bands in exactly 14 days. I am seeing the Pogues.

I’ve been following their tour progress both on YouTube and the Medusa Fora, ever since they started their European tour earlier this year, and I can honestly say that I am simply blown away. For each video I see. For each story from their latest gigs.

I am not shitting you – at one point I had to shut my computer off because of how nervous I got by watching live videos of the Pogues from their latest gigs. Yes – I am nervouse to see them play. I’m sure I’m the only person in the world that gets nervous to see a band play live. I have heard stories of people fainting when seeing the Beatles, but to me, this is so much bigger than that. Imagine if you could meet every single people you ever looked up to, multiply that by at least a billion to your level of excitement – now you can imagine what I feel about seeing Shane MacGowan. Yes – I am now talking about the lead singer. Imagine the rest of the band behind him, who I look up just as much.

If anything I won’t faint. I’ll die. But I’ll die happy.

P.S. – Speaking of lists of great bands, I am just as committed to make a list similar to that – a list of fucking shit bands and artists. I won’t begin just yet, but for now – fuck you Lady Gaga. I cannot describe how much I fucking despise your shit music. And you look like something my sisters dog barfed up once. Honestly, now matter how ‘original’ your clothes are, you’ll still be one of the most horrible looking people I ever saw. Sorry, but there’s no reason why you should be famous. I truly wish that you never got rich or famous. Every time I hear you on the radio I die a little inside me. Something inside me dies. I swear on my life. That, and I get a strong urge to smash the radio as well as kill the hosts for playing your song(s). Nothing personal, of course. Cheers.

i am officially going to see the pogues

I purchased my ticket earlier today, and I reeived it as a .pdf by e-mail. As soon as the whole process was finished my face glowed like a christmas tree. I doubt that my smug smile could have been any broader than it was at that point; I knew I was going to the biggest event of my life. Read more

the pogues to play norway

That’s right, the Pogues are playing Drammen, Norway on the 27th of August! There are a lot of things I haven’t figured out with my life yet, but if there’s one thing I am absolutely certain about; it’s that I am going to see this show. I’d give away every single body part I have to go see the Pogues. And now I will! Go see the Pogues that is, not give away my body parts. (You’ll have to drug me and steal them if you want ‘em.)

The is by far the greatest news I can recall ever getting. And this will without a doubt be the biggest thing I will ever see. I’m looking so fucking much forward to this!

P.S. Tickets are put up for sale tomorrow (June 11th) at 12 p.m. (UTC+2) and cost 595 kroners, and the doors open at 7 p.m.
