brilliant music

Everyday I am amazed at how brilliant music really is. Good music, that is. I absolutely salute all you great artists. In the future I will definitely start up a list of bands I really respect. One that I will add new bands to as I discover new ones (or old, but new to me) I like. For now all you should now is that I’m seeing one of those bands in exactly 14 days. I am seeing the Pogues.

I’ve been following their tour progress both on YouTube and the Medusa Fora, ever since they started their European tour earlier this year, and I can honestly say that I am simply blown away. For each video I see. For each story from their latest gigs.

I am not shitting you – at one point I had to shut my computer off because of how nervous I got by watching live videos of the Pogues from their latest gigs. Yes – I am nervouse to see them play. I’m sure I’m the only person in the world that gets nervous to see a band play live. I have heard stories of people fainting when seeing the Beatles, but to me, this is so much bigger than that. Imagine if you could meet every single people you ever looked up to, multiply that by at least a billion to your level of excitement – now you can imagine what I feel about seeing Shane MacGowan. Yes – I am now talking about the lead singer. Imagine the rest of the band behind him, who I look up just as much.

If anything I won’t faint. I’ll die. But I’ll die happy.

P.S. – Speaking of lists of great bands, I am just as committed to make a list similar to that – a list of fucking shit bands and artists. I won’t begin just yet, but for now – fuck you Lady Gaga. I cannot describe how much I fucking despise your shit music. And you look like something my sisters dog barfed up once. Honestly, now matter how ‘original’ your clothes are, you’ll still be one of the most horrible looking people I ever saw. Sorry, but there’s no reason why you should be famous. I truly wish that you never got rich or famous. Every time I hear you on the radio I die a little inside me. Something inside me dies. I swear on my life. That, and I get a strong urge to smash the radio as well as kill the hosts for playing your song(s). Nothing personal, of course. Cheers.

the gentleman

Not 5 minutes ago, I served an older gentleman at the store where I work. (Yes, I am writing this from work.) And I am sure he must have been in his late hundreds. At least. Deaf and almost blind he stumbled in to the store, wanting to compete in the Norwegian lottery “Lotto”. I told him that he needs to have a card so as to confirm his identity while playing, and trying to explain him the new rules, I noticed that his age rendered him quite, quite deaf. When The Gentleman said he wanted a ticket for 5 weeks, I said “That’ll be 200 kroner”. The Gentleman then suggested he’d pay 10 kroner, just like he always used to. I reckon this was back in the 1880′s. The Gent proceeded by insisting I take his change. When I refused, The Gent didn’t take this lightly and looked pissed. I Then pretended to be busy placing out new magazines that arrived today, until he left.

Cheers to you, gramps, for making it outside. But please, if you do decide to take another stroll, please don’t head my way.

i’m a socialist. deal with it.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of hateful comments on my last.fm profile page after I joined a ‘group’ called ‘socialist scrobblers’.  Mainly from Polish males in their 20s, might I add. They criticize my political views because, apparently, I support the former Soviet Union and its leaders. So, I am a bad person you say? I support evil dictators like Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, eh? Well, if you are under the impression of these statements I suggest you find the nearest glass bottle you can find, grab the top of it, and smash the bottom half of it against the wall. Done? Good. Now, kindly insert it as far as you possibly can up your ass. Now jump high up in the air, and try to land on your hiney.

Just to state some facts regarding my political views:

  • I am not a racist.
  • I am for social equality.
  • I am a pacifist.
  • I am for democracy.
  • I am against imperialism.
  • I believe in freedom of speech.
  • I do not believe in God. Just like I don’t believe in any other made-for children characters.
  • I do not support North Korea, China, or the former Soviet Union. Nor do/did I support their respective dictators.

The past couple of months I’ve been getting comments from yet another guy from Poland, who clearly had set his mind on the fact that I supported the Soviets as well as their invasion of Poland. I tried my very best to explain to him that his impressions were as wrong as wrong can be, but to no avail. Because his english, well, to say it simply; sucks hairy, sweaty, veiny fat-man bollocks.

Now to soothe my ears with some music.

do you like rain and sun?

Do you like when the sun shines and it rains at the same time? Do you like rainbows? Do you like complete rainbows all across the sky? If your answer to one or more of these questions was “HELL YES!”, then let me ask you; what would you say to a double complete rainbow?

men’s code

Yesterday, after hours at work on a slow day, I found myself clicking aimlessly around the Pogues forum (which I just recently signed up for, and even was welcomed by Philip Chevron!) and the Pogues.com, and found a link to a Norwegian Pogues Tribute site, where I found the definite Men’s Code.
